Part 2 Chapter 57 - Late Summer (2)

As Sul enters, In Ho calls her, "naturally curly hair" and teases her about the night she got drunk. She's frustrated by his teasing, but notices that Sung Eun has not come to class. She's a little disappointed that Sung Eun did not inform her about missing class, but supposes that they are just "tutoring class" friends and nothing more. Meanwhile, In Ho is contemplating when to tell his boss that he's quitting the job. A co-worker tells "Thomas" that he seems like the popular type, and In Ho agrees somewhat. They also notice the rough skin around In Ho's hands, and wonder if he fought a lot when he was younger. In Ho replies back that he was a good fighter, leaving his co-workers a bit creeped out.

Sul runs to the bathroom during break time and hears a couple of students complain that the person in the last stall won't come out. She notices someone crying, and realizes that it's Sung Eun. She asks what's wrong, and Sung Eurn replies: "It's... so tiring for me...You know as well, right? You're tired of it as well... I've always tried telling myself that it doesn't matter what they say, that I'm used to it... But it's still difficult for me. What right do they have to interfere in who I meet or what I wear?" Sul realizes that she heard people gossiping about her and wonders what to tell her. Sung Eun comes out of the bathroom and apologizes for making Sul feel bad as well. Sul replies that she's alright, and that Sung Eun should tell her if anything's wrong. She urges Sung Eun to clean up and come to class, but Sung Eun declares that she'll be skipping class today. Sul wonders if Sung Eun is angry at her and realizes that despite what Sung Eun says, it's probably impossible to be not affected by what others say. Sul is disappointed that others would say stuff about others so openly and thinks that they should keep their thoughts to themselves. But at the same time, she feels that things would be better if Sung Eun wore less revealing clothes to classes at least. But she quickly throws these thoughts away when she thinks about how difficult it is for Sung Eun to deal with this.

At work, Sul realizes that summer is coming to an end and her work will be done soon. She has always done difficult work in difficult conditions, so this job is rather nice for her compared to her past ones. She looks at AP Huh and acknowledges once again that summer is almost over and that she needs to clear up a few things.

She's meeting Jung at a coffee shop, and smiles awkwardly at him. When he smiles back, she internally begs him to stop smiling like that. She feels confused - she was the one who was angry and asked him not to contact her, yet the situation feels extremely uncomfortable for her. When Jung tries to talk about last night, she wonders if he's going to break up with her, just as Jung told her. But Jung just warns her to not drink alcohol anymore.

Sul initiates conversation by telling him that Joo Yong is moving out. She tells him that it's difficult for her to accept Jung's words that he did everything for her - but she's sorry that she was so angry at Jung without hearing his side of the story properly. She ultimately thinks that he didn't mean any harm, so she has decided to trust Jung this time. But she asks that he never does anything like this ever again. She wishes that he consult her first on any issues that concern her. He agrees to do so. Sul then asks if she did anything extreme the other night, and Jung mentions that she did throw up. He comforts her, saying that he never saw it happen. He then mentions that Sul was curious about what happened between Jung and In Ho. He explains that he and In Ho were pretty good friends growing up, despite their different personalities and interests. He was the grandson of a professor Jung's father deeply respected, and In Ho came over often, so they were almost like brothers. But the crowds they hung out with were too different, and there came the problem. In Ho had a big fight with somebody close to Jung, and In Ho hurt his hand right before a recital. Jung isn't sure why the fight happened and why it got so serious, but he does know that they were all at a very sensitive age. In Ho lost his entire future with his hurt hand, and blamed everything on Jung, despite Jung's insistence that he was never involved in any of this. He ignored everybody who suggested therapy and disappeared from the face of the Earth. When he came back, he had too much hatred for Jung inside him. Jung explains that he doesn't want to understand In Ho anymore if In Ho won't understand him. Sul thinks that they hated each other too much for this to be a simple misunderstanding, but Sul doesn't want to pry into it too much. Jung asks then what happened with Oh Young Gon, and Sul explains that In Ho helped her out when Young Gon was bothering her. Jung doesn't think too much into it, and merely replies that it's a relief someone was there to help her. Sul then insists that they go out and do a few things - she had looked up a few coupons online for dinner and an exhibition.

They walk down the streets after hanging out and even talk about business (those nerds...) on the way. Sul even suggests that they should set up a company together. They eat dinner together and Sul bothers Jung that he doesn't have any games on his smartphone. He suggests that she should get a smartphone as well, but she says it's too expensive. He suggests that they should get the "couple" payment plan, but Sul scoffs, saying that Jung doesn't contact her that often anyway, so there would be no point in getting a joint payment plan. They have a playful argument about contacting each other and then laugh.

When they arrive at Sul's place, he asks when Sul would be moving out. She responds that she'll be staying here until the end of the break. Sul then remembers to give Jung something she bought for him. He asks, "It's for me?" and she replies, "Then who else wouldI give it to?" He smiles, and he puts the watch on him with Sul's help. He thanks her while holding her, and she complains weakily that Jung's smile is very subtly irritating. When people pass by, she immediately pushes him away in embarrassment, saying that the summer is way too hot. He laughs, saying, "Yeah, the summer's pretty hot. It's hot."

That was SO fast! Thank you so much Yuko!

Omg that was SO cute! I want to say something more intelligent, but... SO cute! xD Naturally Curly Hair. And Jung's smile and hug attempts are just... xD And just why is he smiling soooo much right after Sul nearly threw up on him? Hahah. Well, I'm glad that Sul resolved the issue with Jung at least, though I also suspect that there is a lot more to the story between Jung and In Ho. In Ho still shouldn't have run away without attempting therapy though. :\

:D :) ;) 8-) ;) :) :D

These nerds indeed. Open a company together? Actually doesn't sound like a bad idea?

But....the stuff that Jung brushed aside (OYG, and the thing with In Ho)...just feels like they will come back and haunt nerd-sshi #1 and nerd-sshi #2 :|

That's too cute. I can't believe she'd say it while he's in her face (*ノωノ)

once again another great chapter from Soonki!!!
but somehow Jung is acting like the overly perfect boyfriend, I know someone always has to doubt Jung and everything he does  , but he's so fast to talk about In ho and his past (like Sul said, the issue seemed small compaired to In hos anger) even joking about getting a couples phone plan seemed like more of a way to make Sul feel really speacial
:x AHH !!! I dont know im probably being a paranoid fan again (btw does any one else feel uneasy again)

I still feel that there's a lot to uncover in this whole Jung & In Ho fiasco. I don't think Jung is hiding anything from us necessarily, but just that In Ho knows something that Jung doesn't, and we don't know the entire story...

okay like seriously.
Me as I scrolled down this chapter:
Image
"OH MY GOD TOO CUTE TOO CUTE"

and when they started talking business nerd... and talked about opening a company together i was going
"THEY'RE LIKE A NERDY MARRIED COUPLE"
*died*

I have never felt this fangirly while reading any webtoon before..... this chapter took my fangirl boundaries to a new level.
