Part 2 Chapter 54 - Isolation (6)
In Ho sits on the steps in front of the tutoring place. He's frustrated about his ex-boss coming to find him. He decides to change his phone number and remembers what In Ha told him, to take care of himself before he takes care of In Ha. He concludes that this isn't anything too big - his ex-boss won't really kill him, and it'll be impossible to find In Ho in the midst of a big city like Seoul. He thinks this isn't anything to be too concerned with. He thinks about finding a job around town, and then leaving for the countryside. But then, he remembers his dorm mates asking In Ho what he plans to do as a future career. He remembers his job interviews, at how they seemed extremely suspicious of him. As he yells out in frustration, Sul passes by. She's a bit late for class, and she asks what In Ho is doing here. He then says, "I'm curious... When will dog fur buy me my meal... Am I going to starve to death like this..." Sul promises to buy him a meal after classes today. He says that she can't run away from this deal. Sul says she won't, and tells In Ho to go find friends other than her. She asks if he has other friends, and In Ho responds, "Friends? I don't 'raise' such things. Everybody I meet strangely all like me, but unfortunately, I don't want to be too involved with them. Relationships... they're all irritating. It's best to leave things as simple as possible. Later on~ You'll get backstabbed. Like this." Sul is a bit confused at his words. In Ho then tells her that it's Sul who seems to not have friends to hang out with. Sul defends herself by saying that she meets people and hangs out people. He then smirks and asks, "Ah? Really? Then are you friends with me as well?" Sul doesn't know what to respond, and says that they're definitely not just 'acquaintaces.' In Ho laughs and tells her to go to class. They decide to meet up at a nearby fastfood place and then head to a place to eat.
Yoo Jung responds to Sul's text by saying: "Yeah, I'm fine. I'll see you tomorrow." He then leaves. Sul sees his text and looks at the dark sky.
In Ho gets a text from Sul saying that she'll be ten minutes late because of something that happened in class. It then starts to rain, and he runs to a nearby convenience store. He wonders if Sul has a umbrella, and contemplates if he should buy her one. As he wonders, his eyes wander to a television inside the store. It shows an interview by his ex-piano professor. The professor talks about his new apprentice, and mutters the exact words: "This student is really the one special studnet of my life time." As In Ho watches this, he remembers the time his professor told him, "You'll do the therapy, right? I trust you In Ho, so..." He is suddenly wrapped in fear as he thinks about the things people told him about - everything from his ruined past and unclear future.
Sul then arrives. She looks around for In Ho and wonders if he left. She then sees him in front of the store and wonders what he's doing in the rain. She tries to call him, but realizes that In Ho is crying. She doesn't saying anything, merely holding out her umbrella for him.
Jung is in front of an old apartment building (most likely Sul's? this is unclear). He sees a snail, and taps his foot. When the snail stops, he continues to stomp his foot. When he realizes that people are watching, he gets embarassed and stops.
Sul and In Ho are at a nearby restaurant. In Ho has a glass, and when Sul tries to ask In Ho about why he was crying, he gives her a 'death glare,' silencing her effectively. He asks her why she isn't drinking, and she states that she's not good with alcohol. He asks if Sul will be quitting the tutoring sessions soon, and she replies that she will be, since it was only for the summer break. He wonders if he should quit as well. She asks if he has a different job in mind. When In Ho asks her what she plans to do in the future, she responds that she has never been very good at anything other than studying, just as In Ho teases her all the time. She concludes that she'll just be doing something related to her major. When In Ho asks her for more details, she gives very broad responses, and he responds that she'll just be studying for the rest of her life.
Sul asks: "Then... if you quit this job, Mister Baek In Ho... Where will you go?" In ho tries to respond, but a 3rd person pulls out a chair and says, "What are you talking, you two? Add me in the conversation as well. Okay?"
