Good chapter but I'm still wondering why it is relevent to the current storyline. We already knew jung and Sul had miscommunication issues. Still can't understand the money thing. I mean, I know he was used to paying but because of that, wouldn't he have been grateful that someone at least offered? Sul wasn't mocking him or anything.
You have a point; we do know that Sul and Jung already had miscommunication problems. But I think this chapter, coupled with every other flashback with their interactions, is vital to understanding just how awkward their relationship was before. My best friend and I concluded that this chapter really highlights how different Sul is from everyone else in regards to Jung. First, she tries to pay for her share; that's something almost no one does because everyone knows that Jung will. Second, she gets really close to him to grab his attention. But from Jung's POV, he's probably thinking, "Why the hell is this creeper so close to me?" Jung is very reserved and doesn't appreciate people stepping into his "bubble." Third, after everyone else agrees to the pub plan, Sul decides to throw in a new and improved version of the idea. Jung most likely is thinking, "Yeesh, everyone agreed already, why are you trying to hold us back?" And I think Jung was expecting Sul to leave with an angry or annoyed face, because that's her usual expression around him; instead, Sul's face went completely dead and she quietly leaves the room. That was a real curve ball for Jung.
So even though we know Sul wasn't mocking him, we have to look at that situation from a peer's perspective. Why would she pay for her own meal? Doesn't she know that Jung always pays? Is she trying to look good? And why did she get so close to me just to scream into my ear? Do I look like a hooker who needs to be paid for my service? (Those last two were my imagined Jung's thoughts
